Tubi’s U.S. title page now lists Late Night with the Devil as a free 2023 horror film with a running time of one hour and 33 minutes. Variety’s October service calendar placed the title on Tubi on October 19, and the film-specific page was live when After Hours checked it that morning. That is a current U.S. offer, not a promise about another territory or how long the listing will remain available. Tubi is ad-supported, so allow longer than the listed 93-minute film runtime for the full viewing session.
The spoiler-light setup is built for one evening. On Halloween 1977, a late-night variety show stages an occult-themed episode and the broadcast goes wrong. David Dastmalchian plays host Jack Delroy; Tubi’s record also lists Laura Gordon, Ian Bliss, Fayssal Bazzi, Ingrid Torelli, Rhys Auteri, Georgina Haig and Josh Quong Tart. The U.S. page lists an R rating, so the film is not positioned as a family Halloween pick.
The format is the practical distinction. Colin and Cameron Cairnes present the story as a rediscovered television event, using the shape of a period talk show instead of a conventional haunted-house setup. VicScreen identifies the brothers as the film’s writers, directors and editors and says they shot the Melbourne production in 20 days with a predominantly Australian cast and crew. The filmmakers said they approached the set like a live 1970s television show, an intention that helps explain the film’s broadcast frame without giving away what happens inside it.
That makes tonight’s decision less about franchise knowledge than tolerance for a television-shaped pressure cooker. Choose it if you want a self-contained horror film under two hours, a period-media conceit and a premise driven by ratings desperation. Choose something else if occult possession, a child placed inside a sensational broadcast or the visual language of old studio television is poor company tonight. Those are premise-based fit signals, not a quality verdict.
The Cairnes brothers told VicScreen that their instincts combine horror and comedy and that entertainment comes first. They also described early-1970s-through-1980s horror as a major influence and framed the film’s American setting around the larger stakes of a national late-night broadcast. Those attributed intentions are useful context for the tonal wager; they do not establish how any viewer will respond to the finished movie.
For tonight, the bounded recommendation is simple: Late Night with the Devil is the compact streaming choice when the fake-live-broadcast device sounds more appealing than a feature-length world to learn. Verify the film-specific Tubi page before pressing play because catalogues can change. After Hours did not receive a screener, attend a screening or interview the filmmakers or cast, and this is not a review. The reused velvet-cinema artwork is an original editorial illustration and does not depict the film, its characters or performers.
